The Pathaan Movie Review: A Disappointing Thriller that Fails to Live Up to the Hype


I recently watched the much-hyped Indian movie "Pathaan" on Amazon Prime, and I must say, I am glad I didn't waste my time and money on watching it in the theater. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham in lead roles and had been the talk of the town for a while before its release. However, after watching it, I cannot help but criticize the weak and poorly written plot.

The story revolves around Kabir Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan), an intelligence officer who goes rogue after the murder of his wife and son. He then partners with a bar dancer, Naina (Deepika Padukone), to avenge his family's death and take down the mastermind behind it. Enter the villain, Don (John Abraham), who is the head of an international drug cartel and responsible for Kabir's family's tragic fate. The story sounds like a typical Bollywood masala movie with all the ingredients for a blockbuster hit, but the execution was a huge letdown.

The biggest problem with the movie is the lack of logic and continuity in the storyline. The characters' motivations are not well defined, and the story seems to jump around without proper explanations or justifications. It almost feels like the writers put together a few action sequences and tried to build a story around them.

Another issue with "Pathaan" is the overuse of cliches and predictable tropes. From the undercover agent who gets too involved with the criminal organization to the dance numbers that seem forced and out of place, the movie offers nothing new or exciting to the audience. It is a cookie-cutter Bollywood action movie that relies too heavily on star power and hype to attract viewers.

Overall, "Pathaan" is a disappointing movie that fails to live up to its hype and promises. The plot is weak, the characters lack depth and development, and the movie offers nothing new or exciting to the audience. It is a classic case of taking the audience for granted and relying on star power and marketing to make a profit. Fortunately, I watched it on Amazon Prime, and I did not have to bear the disappointment of spending money on a movie ticket in the theater.
