New Moon Day Reflections on Rituals, Chandrayaan III, and Our Shared Cosmic Journey

On this New Moon Day, I took part in our revered morning ceremony, performing Tarpana, a sacred ritual that pays homage to our ancestors, deities, sages, and other divine beings. This practice is not merely a tradition but a duty, a way of remembering and respecting those who came before us. As per our beliefs, it provides sustenance and spiritual elevation to our ancestors in their afterlife and helps us dissolve any ancestral karmic debt.

In the tranquil silence of the morning, I made a vow, a 'Sankalpa', to please these entities, and proceeded to offer water symbolically, accompanied by ancient mantras. Each droplet was a token of gratitude, a bridge connecting me to the cosmic continuum. Once the offerings were made, I washed my palm, reflecting upon the profound links that bind us to the universe.

Amid these introspections, the journey of Chandrayaan III emerged in my thoughts. The spacecraft, more than a scientific marvel, carries metaphorically the 'meta particles' exhaled by every soul on Earth, weaving a fascinating tapestry of science and spirituality. This cosmic voyage unites us with our ancestors, stirring a profound sense of unity and continuity within us.

As I share these reflections, please note these are personal, the echoes of my mind, and may not resonate with all. Today, I am reminded of my small but significant place within the grand scheme of the universe.

அமாவாசை நாளில்,
புனிதமான சடங்குகள் செய்தேன்,
தர்ப்பணம் எனும் வழிபாட்டில்,
என் முன்னோர்களை வணங்கினேன்.

அவர்கள் நமக்களித்த,
அருள் மழையில் நனைந்தேன்,
என் கடமைகளை நினைவுகூர்ந்து,
என் சங்கல்பத்தைச் செய்தேன்.

பழங்கால மந்திரங்களோடு,
தண்ணீர் ஊற்றினேன்,
என் நன்றியை வெளிப்படுத்த,
அண்டம் என்னுடன் ஒன்றியது.

என் உள்ளங்கையை கழுவி,
தியானத்தில் ஆழ்ந்தேன்,
என் முன்னோர்களின் ஆன்மாக்கள்,
என் இதயத்தில் பேசின.

சந்திரயான் III விண்கலம்,
என் எண்ணங்களில் ஓடியது,
