Strings of Innocence: Weaving Memories with Melody - A Dance of Childhood's Pinnal Kolattam

In the quiet corners of childhood, where dreams are woven with the threads of innocence and wonder, a song was born. A melody that echoed through the hallways of my heart and found a permanent dwelling there. "Poo Poovai Paranthum Pogum Pattupuchi Akka," a Tamil tune that sings the dance of flowers and butterflies, breathes life into memories every time it reaches my ears.

A memory etched in colors and movements, a dance performed by my dear sister Suseela during her tender years of 3rd or 4th standard. The Pinnal Kolattam, knitting a lotus flower, was for the song that refers to butterflies as flying flowers. With Kolakattai (sticks) and strings, in beautiful harmony, they weaved. Little hands moving with a grace beyond their years, orchestrating a dance that knit together disparate strings into a beautiful flower. A flower held up to the audience, a triumph of innocence and artistry, a symphony of smiles and applause.

That tune, that scene, remains alive, refusing to fade away, captured not in photos or videos, but in eyes, ears, and mind.

Even now, as I sit amidst the tangled wires of my office room, attempting to bring order, my mind drifts back to that delicate dance. How simple it seemed then, the weaving of strings into a flower. How complicated now, the untangling of wires.

The song whispers lessons from the past. It talks not merely of flowers or butterflies but of life itself. It speaks of the delicate balance of chaos and order, complexity and simplicity, yesterday and today. Like the threads that form the flower, we weave our destinies, sometimes tangled, sometimes beautifully arranged.

In these wires, I see more than just confusion; I see a reflection of life's myriad twists and turns. In that dance, I find more than grace; I find the purity of childhood and the essence of creativity.

With an open mind, I invite you to walk with me down this path of nostalgia, to listen to this haunting melody, and to see how a simple school performance can resonate through the years, becoming a metaphor for life itself.

Please, take a moment. Close your eyes, open your heart, and let the tune play. Since I cannot share the exact moment here, I am sharing another video of the same melody for you to enjoy and picturize the Pinnal Kolattam all by yourself in your mind. Watch as the strings become flowers, as chaos becomes art, as childhood becomes memory. Let's weave together, once more, the beautiful flower that is life.

May these words remind you, as they do me, that life is a dance, a song, a weaving of strings into something beautiful.
